Krystina and Carlo’s November engagement session at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego was one of those sessions where everything just flows. Some couples take a bit to warm up in front of the camera, but these two were comfortable right away. You could tell they genuinely enjoy being around each other.
They chose Sunset Cliffs because it’s close to home. They live in the area, and it made sense to document this chapter of their story somewhere familiar. We started in the afternoon and worked our way toward sunset, spending about two hours exploring the cliffs and coastline.
What stood out most was how much they feed off each other’s energy. They’d make each other laugh without trying too hard, and those moments between the planned poses ended up being some of the strongest images. It’s the kind of dynamic that makes my job easier because I’m just documenting what’s already there.
Toward the end of the session, we watched the sunset together. The light was soft, the energy was calm, and it felt less like a photoshoot and more like just being present. That’s when I got some of my favorite frames from the day.
Krystina and Carlo are the kind of couple who make things go smoothly. Down to earth, easy to work with, and genuinely connected. Their wedding came later, and if this engagement session was any indication, I knew their day would be good.
