Theresa and Jithu’s wedding took me to New York for the first time. It was also the farthest I have ever traveled for a wedding, and it turned into one of the most meaningful trips of my career.

We got to know each other on a call before the big day, and they were kind and warm from the very beginning. That same warmth carried through the whole weekend. Their families welcomed me with open arms, the kind of hospitality that made a stranger feel like family within hours.

The day itself was full of tradition, moments passed down and carried forward from the start of the morning through the end of the night. I have never documented anything quite like it, and I felt genuinely honored to be trusted with it.

By the end of the trip, I wished I had one more day. Not just for the city, but for the people. Theresa and Jithu, their families, everyone who made that weekend what it was.

The night ended with Theresa surprising Jithu with a cake for his birthday. After everything that had already happened that day, it felt like exactly the right way to close it out.

I shot the day on a mix of digital and film, the same approach I bring to every wedding.

I will not forget this trip, or the people I got to spend it with. Some of the most heartwarming people I have ever met.
